"La Merced" Chapel
It is located downtown near Constitution Square, on the corner of Real
and Ayacucho street.
It is considered as a National Historical Monument because in this chapel was
installed the First Constituent Congress of Perú in 1839, those congressmen made
the First Political Constitution that was in force for 16 years.
The high altar and the pulpit are wooden that was engraved in baroque style.
The chapel had some restorations especially after the earthquake in 1940.
